Today we went to the Field Museum (pictured above) and the Shedd Aquarium.

Yesterday we went on a boat tour that combined an architectural overview of Chicago with a speedboat ride on Lake Michigan. The tour guide was very entertained by my question about the Peter Graves classic film The Beginning of the End, which features a climactic scene in which giant mutated grasshoppers climb up one of Chicago’s skyscrapers … which was realized by having normal-sized grasshoppers climb on a PICTURE of said skyscraper.

We have sampled authentic deep-dish pizza from Due (good, but too filling) and a Chicago-style hot dog from the stand in front of the Field Museum (good, but too spicy).

I’m digesting a lovely steakhouse meal now, and getting ready for another day of adventures …
