If you’re going to be in and around New York City next weekend and are looking for something fun to do, you should definitely take advantage of  the annual Open House New York weekend (Oct. 10 & 11).  You’ll find all kinds of free tours available, and many sites that are closed for most of the year are open to the public at this time.  I’ve been visiting these sites since 2006, and I’ve never visited the same place twice yet.  Make sure to look at the printed event listing sooner rather than later, because some of the sites require reservations and fill up quickly.
